For nearly 90 years, Mary Coyle Ice Cream has been a cherished part of Akron’s story.

Founded in 1937 by Walter “Buck” Coyle and named after his wife, Mary, the original Mary Coyle Ice Cream & Candy shop began as a classic soda fountain and lunch counter in downtown Akron. As its popularity grew, multiple Mary Coyle locations opened throughout the city, becoming a beloved gathering place for generations of Akron families.

When the Coyle family moved west in the early 1950s, the stores were gradually sold, with the Highland Square location becoming the final remaining Mary Coyle shop. Since 1963, this historic location has continued serving the community and preserving the tradition that made Mary Coyle a local favorite.

Today, we’re proud to carry that tradition forward. Alongside our premium ice cream, you’ll find Akron favorites including NORKA soda pop and Ben Heggy chocolates—bringing together some of the city’s most iconic brands under one roof.
